The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan lost it on a flight, got arrested

This story brought back some memories. Does anyone remember the Irish rock band, The Cranberries, from the 1990s? I only really remember their “Zombie” song, but I really dug that song. They stayed together until 2001 and got back together for a 2012 album, Roses. Dolores took some time off from the rock-star lifestyle and started a family. She married Don Burton, who once managed Duran Duran, and they have three children.

Dolores is back in the news this morning after a raucous flight from NYC to Ireland. She allegedly attacked a flight attendant. I heard on the radio that she ground her high heel into the attendant’s foot, although that could be an embellishment. TMZ says the flight attendant had either a foot or leg injury and was rushed to the hospital. Dolores also allegedly head-butted a police officer. More from the BBC:

The lead singer of Irish band The Cranberries is under arrest in hospital following an alleged attack on an air hostess and a policeman on a US flight.

Dolores O’Riordan was detained after an air hostess was reportedly attacked on an Aer Lingus flight from New York to Shannon, County Clare, on Monday.

Police boarded the aircraft at Shannon and during the course of the arrest, a policeman was also assaulted.

Ms O’Riordan has been taken to hospital in Limerick but remains under arrest.

The flight, from JFK airport, landed at Shannon at about 05:30 GMT.

The injured Aer Lingus air hostess was brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick shortly after the landing.

The police officer was not seriously hurt. A police spokesman said a woman in her early 40s was initially taken to Shannon garda (police) station for questioning.

Later on Monday morning, Ms O’Riordan was taken to hospital, but she remains in police custody.

Dang. This sounds like one miserable transatlantic flight for everyone else involved. I’m guessing alcohol was involved in some shape or form, although that’s never an excuse for violent behavior.
